Mark began his photography career in junior high school
at the age of 12. With the help of his first mentor, Arthur Aaron, Mark
took on the role of yearbook photographer. At age 15 he photographed his
first wedding. As high school and college passed his hobby began to look
as though it could become a career. In 1984 with the help of his father
he was able to open his first studio. With the encouragement
of his wife Lori, Mark was able to attend Triangle Institute of Professional
Photography in Pittsburgh where he studied under great photographers such
as Don Blair, Al Gilbert, Dave Ziser, and Kent Smith to name a few.
Mark has traveled extensively with Don Blair and Company
Seminars as a lighting specialist and has appeared in several instructional
videos.
Mark regularly submits photographs for competition. In
the fall of 1998 Mark was awarded "Best of Show" "Best
Children's Portrait" and the "A.O. Breckon Memorial Trophy"
at Triangle Photographers Association fall print Competition. In March
of 1998 he was awarded the "Hilda Swank Trophy for children's portraiture"
and the "320" award for all entries averaging above a blue ribbon.
Mark has just been awarded two blue ribbon Merit Prints and a "Judges
Choice" trophy at the Fall Triangle Print Competition this October.
